Talon's First Mountain

The Last week of June we climbed the 8th tallest mountain in Idaho, Mount Hyndman.  We decided to make it an overnighter and try backpacking with Talon which worked out pretty good. We got a really late start (hiking in the dark) and didn't make it as far as we wanted. We only made it 2 miles in. The next morning we climbed to the top and back to the car (11 miles). Talon did Awesome!! It was so fun to take along.

Here is Talon in the morning, not to happy to be awake.

Give him a little food and he's great!
Talon taking a break from hiking up the trail happy as can be.
There was the prettiest river that cascaded along the trail!  The views this trail offered were amazing.  One of the prettiest hikes I have been on in a long time.
Talon fell asleep and his head was wobbling everywhere, so to keep it in one place we put my bandana around his head and tied it to the pack, it made him look like a hospital patient.
Taking a break  while scrambling up the last steep section of the mountain.
Talon had a lot of fun throwing rock.
The Top of Hyndman!!
 The hike back down.
One time we stopped to rest and Talon just took off, he'd hike a ways than turn around and wave bye, laugh, turned and kept going. He did that over and over again, we just sat and laughed til we realized he wasn't going to stop and wait for us.

Talon's first experience sledding down a mountain. Enjoy, don't get too worried it's safer than it looks.

First Olympic Triathlon

Saturday I did the Magic Man Triathlon in by Twin Falls.  So much fun.  I am definitely am going to make it a yearly event.  I had no idea what I was doing and I am pretty sure my $5 wet suit from the youth Ranch slowed me down.  But I made my goal to do it under 3 hours and I did it in 2:56 and ended up getting 2nd overall in the women by 2 minutes because of some really stupid mistakes like not going faster.
I really wonder how many people were laughing at my wet suit.

trying to mount my bike half frozen.

At the finish line. Tyler said I looked like I was just starting the run rather than finishing.
 The support group.
And my medals. My goal for next year is to do it in 2 hours and 45 minutes.  woot woot!

Chicken Torture

Talon had a great time the other night chasing the chickens around the backyard until he smacked his face against the side of the house.  Than after that he got mean and decided he did not want them by the door and grabbed them by the tail feathers and threw them.  It was really funny.

GOLF?

All Tyler wanted to do this weekend was go to the driving range and hit golf balls.  Yes, it is true, tyler is getting into golf.  Luckily his brother Jake called and wanted to go, we were in Pocatello so we went.  I still don't get why they would rather golf than climb.Even Talon is getting into it.  He likes to take the golf  clubs and bang them on the floor.
Talon was entertained with beer caps and nasty water.

Afterwards Jake took us to a rope swing in which was really fun and refreshing in the 90 degree weather.

Memorial Day Weekend

  • Tyler got Friday off for Memorial weekend so he went fishing with my Dad and Uncle Ryan.  He caught 3 Brown Trout.  Doesn't he look like a proud fisherman.  I love his smile in this picture.

Saturday was rainy and nasty almost all day.  What better to do in the rain than go to Lava and sit in the Hot Springs!  Talon eventually had fun in the water.

Experimenting with our new camera.
It looks like Tyler is trying to drowned me then decided not to.

Tyler and Talon.  Doesn't Talon look like he is having so much fun.  Ha, it took awhile for him to figure out what was going on.
On Monday we went to the City of Rocks!! Grandma and Grandpa Poole came and played with Talon so got some real climbing in.
Talon enjoying the fire in his new camp chair. He likes to try and blow the fire out, he will babble something, point and blow.

Talon climbing his first rock, he did great! Sorry the video is sideways, Tyler thinks he's taking a picture.

Las Vegas

We went to Las Vegas for a week for Tyler's work.  .  I was really scared I wouldn't survive but I did and I even had fun.We left saturday got to vegas Sunday night.  While Tyler weas in his class all day I would wonder around in the morning til it was naptime, meet him for lunch than hang out in the hotel til he was done. First we stopped in SLC to go visit Tyler and Talia and go on a bike ride with my brother on the trails around his house.  They were really nice and fun!

A stop on the long drive to Vegas.  I love this picture of Talon and Tyler.  He loves his daddy.

Monday night a day in Las Vegas was enough and we had to get out so we went up and visited Tyler's great Aunt and Uncle who live right next to the temple.  It was so fun to talk with them, they are wonderful people and Talon had a lot of fun playing with her decorative balls.

Another fun picture of father and son.

Tuesday night we went to the Hoover Dam and the new bridge.
The new Bridge.
A cool panoramic shot of what it looks like now.
Clean Las Vegas entertainment, the Volcano.
Hanging out.

The Gardens at the Bellagio, so pretty and fun.
Fountain at the Bellagio, Tyler and I watched these after we went and saw Phantom of the Opera!!
Tyler had a friend down in Vegas who watched Talon for us so we could go on a date.  The play was AMAZING!! It was amazing all the things they could do to the stage.
Eating McDonald fries at 11 p.m.
RED ROCKS!! Tyler got done with his class Wednesday so Thursday we went to Red Rocks and spent a couple days climbing.  This climb kicked our trash, well, my trash.

Talon hanging out, trying not to get sunburned.

Talon has an obsession with phones now.  I love this picture because he looks crazy.
On our way home we stopped and stayed with my grandparents in St. George.  This is Tyler trying out our new camera in the pool.
 The St. George Temple.
Back at Tyler and Talia's watching all the ducks. My parents were there so the boys went on another bike ride and then we had a BBQ after.
So our trip was fun filled week.
